We'll be asking you a couple questions to find the right chair for you.
1. How Tall Are You?
There are 3 basic dimensions to a lift-chair. The seat to the floor,
the seat depth and the back height. All chair sizes have specific
measurements. The most important measurement is the seat depth. The
largest bone in your body is the femur (or thigh) bone.
YOU NEED A CHAIR WHERE YOUR LOWER BACK IS RESTING AGAINST THE BACK OF THE CHAIR.
We sometimes ask you if your body dimensions are normal, or if you have
shorter or longer legs than normal. You also want your kneecap to be
level - not higher- than your thigh when you are sitting. Otherwise, it
is at least twice as hard to stand up from a sitting position without
the electrical feature. Also, you want your head against the back of
the chair; otherwise, without support of your head, this will lead to
fatigue.
2. How much do you weigh? If you’re under 250 pounds a standard chair
will be okay. Some chairs are specifically made for heavy people, some
chairs have extra wide seats, some chair are not built too wide. You
want a chair that fits you. You do not want a chair that is rubbing
against your sides as you sit in it.
3. Do you ever sleep in your chair? Some people like a chair that will
go into a sleeping position " a 3-position lift-chair". Some chairs are
designed to go almost flat.
4. Do you like a chair that is softer or harder? Most people prefer a
firmer back. Lift-Chairs come in choices of Softer-pillow backs and
traditional-firmer-tufted backs. Most people like the support that a
firmer back gives. But others love a soft chair.
